Designing precise, contextual architecture shaped by material, light, and place.

Studio

2x2 is a Vancouver-based architectural design studio working across architecture, interiors, landscape, and objects. Our work is grounded in a disciplined approach that balances spatial clarity with material expression.

We design spaces that are precise, thoughtful, and enduring, shaping how people experience and relate to their surroundings. At its best, architecture reflects its context while quietly elevating it.

Founded in 2021, TWOBYTWO Architecture Studio Ltd. is registered with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC).

What We Do

Our practice builds on over 14 years of collaborative work across disciplines, beginning in art and gallery installations and evolving into a full-service design studio engaged in projects from concept through to construction.

We work across a wide range of scales, from custom furniture and lighting to private residences, multi-family developments, and commercial interiors. Each project is approached with the same level of rigor, whether intimate or complex.

Our focus is on the design and delivery of built work, with particular attention to proportion, light, material, and sequence. We are especially engaged in private and multi-family residential projects, as well as commercial spaces and tenant improvements.

At the core of the studio is an enduring connection to art. This foundation informs our process and allows us to move fluidly between disciplines, creating spaces that are both precise and expressive. Our work is shaped through close collaboration with clients, resulting in environments that feel considered, personal, and quietly distinctive.

Our Ethos

We approach each project through a contextual lens, responding carefully to site, climate, and culture. Our work is guided by three principles:

Context
Design begins with observation. Each project is shaped by its surroundings - its landscape, its history, and the conditions that define it.

Sustainability
We prioritize longevity and restraint. Through the use of local materials and considered construction, we aim to reduce environmental impact while reinforcing a strong sense of place.

Detail
We value precision. Simple, well-resolved details carry the greatest weight, giving clarity and depth to the overall work.

Twobytwo Architecture Studio is located within a heritage building with generous ceiling heights. The space carries a strong sense of history and cultural context within the surrounding neighbourhood.
