South Rowhouse
The South Rowhouse is a vision study for a local rowing club, proposed as a replacement for an aging on-site facility. The project explores a single-storey, fully accessible structure with direct connection to the adjacent calm waterfront.
The program includes boat storage and maintenance, athlete training facilities, and dedicated spaces for introducing local public school students to the sport. The design is organized around a linear public spine that intersects three perpendicular shed-like volumes containing athlete and staff functions.
The entry sequence includes a waterfront viewing area and a flexible meeting space that can open to accommodate larger gatherings. Athlete support spaces are positioned toward the rear of each shed, while boat storage is located closer to the water for efficient access. A separate entry at the far end supports school group access and equipment storage.
The material palette is intentionally restrained, designed to integrate with the surrounding landscape and weather naturally over time, reinforcing the building’s relationship to its coastal context.
